Our department offers five undergraduate concentrations and two graduate tracks. The undergraduate concentrations are: Human Communication Intercultural Communication, Media Studies, Public Relations, and Rhetoric. The graduate tracks are: Communication Studies and Integrated Marketing Communication.

Students explore problems in diverse media (platform conference, print, radio, television, film, and computer-mediated communication), settings (family, industrial, professional, and governmental) and contexts (intercultural and international). Our graduates enter careers in business and industry, government and social services, education, media production, broadcasting, public relations, sales, marketing, writing, personnel, advertising, and training, to name a few.

Our program encourages students to:

  • learn to apply theoretical/critical communication perspectives in everyday life
  • demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationship between communication and culture
  • set and evaluate ethical standards for communicative behavior
